You’re Invited to Autism Awareness Safety Night at DRTC!

At IDD Safe, we believe safety starts with understanding—and that begins by bringing people together. That’s why we’re proud to team up with the Oklahoma City Police Department, the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma, and Dale Rogers Training Center (DRTC) for a very special event: Autism Awareness Safety Night.

📅 Tuesday, April 29th
6:30–7:30 PM
📍 DRTC – 2501 N. Utah Ave, Oklahoma City

This free event is open to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and their families. It’s designed to foster connection, education, and confidence when it comes to interactions with law enforcement and first responders.

What to Expect:

✅ A chance to meet local police officers in a calm, welcoming environment
✅ Hands-on learning focused on police encounter safety and real-world scenarios
✅ Time to ask questions, voice concerns, and share experiences
✅ Access to local resources and support networks for individuals with autism and IDD

Whether you’re a parent looking to better prepare your child, a self-advocate eager to learn, or a community member wanting to get involved—this night is for you.

At IDD Safe, our mission is to equip individuals with IDD with the knowledge and tools they need to feel safe, understood, and empowered during interactions with law enforcement. We also work closely with officers to help them better recognize, respect, and support individuals with unique needs.

Autism Awareness Safety Night is all about building trust, breaking down barriers, and promoting safety through education and empathy.

Come be a part of it—and help us create a more inclusive and prepared community for everyone.
